The wind and weather on Tour de Okinawa
The Tour de Okinawa is Japan’s biggest cycling weekend: a pro race and citizen races up to 200 km around the Yanbaru forest in northern Okinawa, starting and finishing in Nago, with 140, 100 and 50 km races and Saturday rides of up to 312 km.
Early November is warm and humid, and the north-easterly monsoon is usually setting in. The exposed east coast of Yanbaru takes it head-on, while the west coast back to Nago is sheltered or wind-assisted, so where you are when the wind picks up decides the day. Passing showers are common. Set your start and pace above: the forecast follows the hours you’ll actually be riding. The wind on every stretch of the course appears once the route is added to this page.
