The wind and weather on Paris-Roubaix Challenge
The Paris-Roubaix Challenge lets amateurs ride the Hell of the North the day before the pros: 170 km from Busigny with all 30 cobbled sectors, finishing with half a lap of the Roubaix velodrome. The 145 km route includes the Trouée d’Arenberg, and the 70 km has eight sectors; both start in Roubaix.
Early April in northern France is cool and changeable, and showers turn the cobbles slick and muddy. The route runs mostly north-west, so the usual south-westerly is often a tail or cross wind, but a spring north-easterly blows straight into riders across the open farmland sectors, and that wind tends to decide how hard the day is. Set your start and pace above: the forecast follows the hours you’ll actually be riding. The wind on every stretch of the course appears once the route is added to this page.
